Dreams (easy read)

dreams; sleep; relax; sad; happy; bad; worried; story; breathe; dream; nightmare ;

When you are asleep

You may talk

You may snore
You may dream

Sometimes they are happy dreams
Sometimes they are sad dreams sad
bug Sometimes they are bad dreams [nightmares]

Sometimes you have bad dreams when you feel unhappy or unsafe.

Sometimes you can be so upset that you wake up to get away from a bad dream.

Bad dreams don’t come true so don’t feel sad.  Tell mum or dad about it if you have bad dreams.

Don't watch scary movies.

What if you can't sleep?

  • Tell mum or dad.

  • Sit up in bed or a chair.
  • Read a book.
  • Listen to music.
  • Write a story or letter.
  • Do homework!!
  • Hug your teddy bear.

How to relax

Breathe in and out 10 times --- slowly.
Then breathe in, curl your toes, count to 10.
Breathe out slowly, uncurl your toes.
Curl and uncurl all the muscles on the way up your body.
Lie quietly until you fall asleep.

Pretend you are a bird
Pretend you are a cloud
Pretend you are on a boat.
Pretend you are in a special place
where you are happy.

And relax
- until you wake up.

Do you have any special ways to relax?
