Both you and your baby need a medical check around 6 weeks after your baby's birth. Usually you will see your own family doctor or your private obstetrician and a paediatrician.

Your 6 week check may include:

  • a general check of your health
  • a pap smear
  • a discussion about contraception.

Your baby's check

Your child's Personal Health Record has a 6 week health assessment checklist for your doctor to use.
