Data collected while browsing

SA Health does not collect information that can identify any person who visits the Pregnancy site. However, when someone visits the site, our server makes a record of the visit and logs the following information for anonymous reporting of traffic statistics:

  • the user's server address
  • the user's top level domain name
  • the date and time of visit to the site
  • the pages accessed and documents downloads
  • the previous site visited
  • any search words used
  • the type of browser software used

This information is analysed each month to help us monitor traffic loads and accessibility of the pages on our site. No attempt will be made to identify persons using the site, except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may wish to inspect server log files.

The Pregnancy site uses 'cookies' for maintaining contact with a user during and between web browsing sessions. A cookie is a small file supplied by this site and stored on your computer by your web browser software when you access this site. One cookie is used so that the Pregnancy site can recognise you as a unique user as you move around the site, and when you return to the site on different occasions - this allows us to get a more accurate picture of how many unique users are visiting our site, and how often they come back. Please note that this cookie does not store any personal information about you, and can in no way be used to identify a person.

You may choose to disable cookies in your web browser settings, or only allow certain types of cookies - this will have no effect on your experience of using our web site.

Your e-mail address

The Women's and Children's Health Network (WCHN) only records your e-mail address if you send us a message by e-mail. All e-mail addresses are stored securely within the database of this web site.

Your e-mail address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it. When you make an enquiry through the 'Contact Us' section of our site, your e-mail address and message is forwarded to an appropriate expert for a possible response.

Your e-mail address will not be added to any mailing lists without your permission, and we will not disclose your e-mail address for any other purpose without your written consent.

We allow and endorse the use of pseudonyms or aliases when you send a message to us via the site. When submitting queries, the minimum required information is a name, an e-mail address, a location and the message itself. You are free to use your real name (first and/or last names), a pseudonym or alias, or none at all. Your e-mail address allows us to contact you with a response if appropriate.

When subscribing to an e-mail list, we require name(s), e-mail address, password and location. The name can be your real name or a pseudonym. The e-mail address is the one to which we will send any replies to your query.
