Whew! I’m melting!

It always seems to get hotter just when kids start the school year!

Hopefully you have remembered your water bottle and you can soon fill it up again at school.

Maybe you are a really ‘cluey’ person and have a freezer block in your lunch box to keep the food cool?

Of course you have remembered to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide so you are all geared up if you are outside.

When it is really hot (over 36C) we all need to take extra care of ourselves, younger kids and older people. So, make sure that you:

  • stay out of the sun
  • wear light coloured clothes (dark colours absorb heat)
  • take breaks
  • make sure that you don’t overdo things
  • keep an eye on others
  • drink more water.

Have a good long drink every hour rather than little sips, your body will appreciate it!
